Our Artists come from diverse backgrounds, but all have – for many reasons – found themselves experiencing poverty or homelessness. Many didn’t think of themselves as artists before becoming involved in The Card Project (the original art program of The Gathering Place, which inspired our launch of Art Restart).
However, our women are artists – please review our card catalog to see for yourself. The styles and inspiration of the artwork may differ, but each piece offers an unobstructed window to the beauty and hope that survive in the artist’s heart, despite circumstances.
Here are some of our artists:
SALAS, one of our artists, produces a wide variety of cards, and enjoys experimenting with images, themes and styles. She gets inspiration from the many books she enjoys at the library, where she volunteers regularly. For SALAS, the Card Project provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and focus. View her work »
CLM couldn't imagine anyone would pay money for her cards, but it didn't take long before compliments flowed her way from other artists, TGP volunteers/staff, and customers. Her delicate, miniature images of wild animals, birds, families and landscapes are highly coveted by those her purchase her work. View her work »
These are just some of our artists; all have powerful stories to tell. And all of our women have incredible talent. We hope you agree and choose to stay connected through cards from Art Restart.
